He was one of the trainers of world champion Viswanathan Anand since 2007. A full-time chess professional, he has been a ‘mercenary second’ and mentor for a few Grandmasters, and a trainer who has produced several GMs and IMs. He is a freelance writer for newspapers, chess magazines, and chess news portals. Saravanan is also a commentator, public speaker, and an avid reader of chess books. His videos on chess books and general chess topics – especially on Anand – have been well received.
